At the end of the day it's just divided government. In theory each will block the other party's program. Maybe that's a good thing. Of course, uniparty priorities will not be slowed. But I don't think this is as scary as some people think it will be.
What is more scary is the 2028 presidential election where we are much less likely to get a divided government. We have a little less than 3 years before full blown communism, unless Republicans can fully ditch zionism and become electable again.
The best thing that could happen is the dems impeach Trump, and we get Vance. Who is less zionist, and it creates a new set of priorities for the party. Then Vance wins 2028 as an incumbent. Those are narrow odds though.
At least Republicans no longer control the Hill. A lot of comments I am getting from others in person and online is that this election is a very positive move in a good direction, and makes people hopeful for the US and other countries.
Democrats can now work toward reversing some of the disastrous decisions of their predecessors and the Executive Branch.
A vote on ending the bombing of Iran is important at this stage. Reducing the cost of oil might be a result of that, which would result in the reduction of the cost of groceries.
Supporting Ukraine by renewing sanctions on Russia and sending military aid should be next, while also impeaching Hegseth.
Reducing the tariffs will also be important. US farmers sold $16 billion in soybeans to China before Trump was elected and thereafter sold no soybeans, while Russia took over that trade of soybeans to China. Trade with Canada and other countries should resume.
Democrats should re-open the Epstein case and use it as leverage against Trump when they pass bills that Trump will want to veto. They should also investigate the bribes taken by the Trump family.
AIPAC influence of Democrats will have to be challenged more often, while many Democrats have now beaten AIPAC candidates and must continue doing that in 2 years.
In short, Dems are now expected to do a lot more than they've done before to correct numerous problems created by Republicans. After that Democrats can revisit the Affordable Care Act, look into taxing offshore accounts, investigate insider trading, tax the wealthy, bring down the $40 trillion debt, create jobs the way Biden did with the infrastructure bill, etc. All of that so-called pinko liberal commie socialist response to the extreme income inequality needs to be considered even if it won't happen. Corruption should be challenged in US politics, the way it used to be.
I don't know if they can end it. Trump is the commander in chief. Congress has power of the purse. But using it would require defunding the entire military. They could also reduce any war powers he's invoking. But he may not actually be depending on those anyway. And if he were acting under specific authorized war powers, reducing them would require reducing the NDAA and Patriot Act, which are uniparty cornerstones. Very unlikely they'd do that. I think it would be hilarious if they did it. We should goad them to do it.
All I know is I was promised that if Trump won in 2024 democracy was over and we would never have to deal with this shit again... I'm starting to think that was fake news...
For me the most interesting thing would be results of investigations Dems hopefully would start. I wonder can they assign a Mueller-like figure with some purpose?
UPD ChatGPT says not really, Mueller was appointed by Deputy AG
An investigation will almost certainly happen. But unless they find something truly insane (That everyone agrees is insane, not just Democrats) nothing will really come of it.
They may try impeachment again but I doubt it would lead to anything and just waste time and money. They may go after his staff/cabinet but in the end Trump will just auto pen the pardons before he is done. JasonCarwell is correct, It's all preformative.
I agree with newJimmy as well, Iran for sure did him in. I don't really know anyone who approved of that war. Epstein wasn't handled well either... Promise to release all the files but only half come out.. I would love to know what they are hiding and who they are protecting.
I found an article on which investigations are currently planned, and they do plan to force full release of files:
Meanwhile, legislation related to the Epstein files—including some that could compel their full release—could be more likely to pass, though Trump has threatened to use his veto power against against legislation he disagrees with.
Iran + Epstein. Possibly the worst political betrayal of all time?
Worse than Woodrow Wilson?
Worse than Abraham Lincoln?
Worse than Maximilien Robespierre?
Worse than Nero?
Worse than Brutus?
I hope this is a wakeup to politicians on how unpopular the Iran war and Epstein coverup has been. Not expecting any real changes though.

Is that real the worst lie you're upset about right now?
But will he claim a third term?

Nothing on Iran in this article though ...
It's all performative, political theater to distract and divide.
Makes no difference to the UniParty.
Meanwhile, what else is actually happening that matters?
